The highlight of this month is the Indian moon mission. It was scheduled for July 15, 2019 and was postponed. The rocket was finally launched on July 22, 2019, and is well on its way. SOLAR FARM ON CANAL
Old friends-I and Prof Rupender Pal Singh Sukerchakia met in Ludhiana. Driving back from there to Delhi, along the Sutlej Canal, I found almost 5 kM of the Canal, near Ludhiana, covered by solar panels. It looked interesting. Sharing the pictures.

Getting our hands dirty in the “matti”–(earth in the garden) was never an issue with my parents (Though Dad was Sessions Judge-not a farmer).
My elder brother (IIT Kgp 1959 batch) planted Carrots, Radish amongst other things. He explained to me that the carrot is underground. I used to pull one out every day to check the growth(of the carrot) and thrust it back in, until he discovered one day, why the things he planted were disappearing.

RE KUL BHUSHAN-A HOSTAGE HELD BY PAKISTAN:
A PRACTICAL APPROACH
I am too small a person to speak on such matters, But I pray that that such matters be resolved by secret & private diplomacy-some kind of exchange, a give & take may be worked out quietly to get him back alive.
This is practically a hostage situation and scoring points at Courts, Press, international fora (forums) is, probably, counter productive, to the fundamental objective of getting our man back.
I found myself unable to appreciate the newspaper pictures of our people eating sweets on receipt of court judgement, which would, almost certainly, have had the effect of hapless Kul Bhushan being beaten up & denied water for days.
Our man-our brother, our son, our father- faces extreme torture day in and day out. It is a grim scene. We have nothing to gloat over.The judgement does not call for champagne. Singing anybody’s praise is pre-mature.

SMILE A WHILE
Once upon a time, visitors were allowed into an ICU.
An Indian business man visited his Chinese friend, who was hospitalized.The Chinese pleaded, weekly, “Li kai yang qi guan”. The Indian was too eager to help but did not follow the language.The Indian fumbled.
Once again, “Li kai yang qi guan”, the Chinese muttered, with great effort. Then his head fell to one side, body went limp and he died.
Later that year, the Indian visited China and learnt the meaning of “Li kai yang qi guan” –“Get off my Oxygen tube”
You may now know why they wont let you into an ICU.
